The dbx 12 Series graphic equalizers are designed to meet the demands of professional sound reinforcement environments while maintaining simple, intuitive operation. The dbx 1231 features dual channels with 31 1/3 octave ISO frequency bands, a ±12 dB input gain range, and switchable 40 Hz, 18 dB/octave low cut filters for precise system control.

Additional features include 45 mm faders, selectable ±6 dB or ±15 dB boost/cut ranges for accurate adjustment, and multiple connectivity options with XLR, barrier strip, and 1/4″ TRS inputs and outputs to support a wide range of installation requirements. Balanced signal paths ensure low noise performance, while chassis/signal ground lift functionality allows quick identification and elimination of hum.

Engineered for long term reliability, the 12 Series incorporates magnetically isolated transformers, electronically balanced/unbalanced inputs, and servo balanced/unbalanced outputs. RF filtered inputs and outputs, along with a power off hard wire relay bypass and 2 second power up delay, ensure stable and predictable operation across diverse system configurations.

High quality components support a wide frequency response of 10 Hz to 50 kHz, signal to noise ratio greater than 90 dB (ref +4 dBu), total harmonic distortion + noise below 0.005% at 1 kHz (+4 dBu), and interchannel crosstalk below −80 dB (20 Hz to 20 kHz).
