Control Contractor FIR Tunings Now Available

JBL has made available FIR tunings for select Control Contractor Series loudspeakers. The FIR filters optimise both frequency response and phase response to a finer degree of precision than has typically been possible with standard IIR “parameter-based” filters. Additionally, these FIR filters were designed to meet JBL Pro’s new V6 FIR tuning standard.

V6 Tuning Features:

  • Equalisation to a neutral frequency response
  • Improved linearised phase response above 300 Hz
  • Allows users to start with a known flat voicing for further EQing to the needs of the install
  • Improved signal coherence
  • Matched gain to allow for smooth system tuning and subwoofer integration

V6 FIR Tunings Available For Loudspeaker Models:

  • COL600 Slim Column Loudspeaker
  • COL800 Slim Column Loudspeaker
  • SLP12/T Sleek Low Profile Loudspeaker

JBL IRX Auto Power Off Bypass

When you purchase an IRX108BT or IRX112BT the unit will power off by itself if it is idle for a few hours. The default status in the firmware is to go into standby mode automatically.

More details here:

https://help.harmanpro.com/irx-series-standby-mode-and-bluetooth-functions

https://help.harmanpro.com/how-to-disable-auto-standby-for-irx-series

As of September 2023, from firmware V6.0 (IRX108 IRX112) JBL Professional has added a disable/enable function.

To disable auto-standby mode:

  • Power the speaker on and then power it off again.
  • When the speaker is OFF, press and hold the power button in for 5 seconds.
  • If the power LED flashes on and off for 3 seconds, it means you have successfully disabled the auto power off function. (if it lights solid for three seconds it mean that auto-off has been enabled)

If this procedure does not work, it means the Firmware on the IRX is too old and you will need to book a JPRO Service Request to update the firmware. The Service Request is done by requesting a a JPRO SRA ticket via our online portal using the link on this page.
