"Multi-zone training facility with the ability to combine spaces and provide seamless audio throughout"

CASE STUDY: CORPORATE AUDIO SYSTEM

The Warehouse recently completed the addition of a new wing to it's head office complex in Northcote, on Auckland's North Shore. The entire ground level of the new building is dedicated to meeting and training facilities. The rooms range in size from "round table" gatherings of up to six people, through to four large conference rooms - the largest seating up to 140 people.

The conference space is actually one large area in which five independent rooms can be created using removable wall panels - four conference, and one pre-function zone. Each space can be combined with the room adjacent to enable multiple configurations, or it can be used as one large space for meetings or social gatherings.

Each meeting room has local line level inputs for laptop, DVD, iPod etc, and there are four AKG wireless microphone systems which can be switched into any or all of the rooms. Sound processing is handled by a BSS BLU-100, and the rooms combined using Audio Architect's new room combine module.

Each room is acoustically treated and features suspended "cloud" type absorbers. To fit in with these panels, JBL Control 65PT pendant speakers were selected to provide reinforcement - each dropped into gaps between the suspended panels. These speakers consist of a five inch woofer and one inch dome tweeter, and feature a patented JBL technology called Radiation Boundary Integrator (RBI). This technology places a slotted cover in front of the drivers and ensures consistent frequency response over the wide 120 degrees coverage pattern.

Amplification is provided by a Crown DCi8300 multi-channel amplifier, and the system is controlled by Crestron via two touch screen wall panels.
